    HI

I'd like to make a SVCD movie at CBR mode using an audio bitrate different from 224kb/s. Is it possible? I could't do that in TMPGEnc.

If ok, what is the way?

    Thanx

I believe that you can. If I remember correctly SVCD will support audio bitrates from 32-320kbs....I dunno how to do it, but I do believe it is possible.

The SVCD standard supports from 32-384kbits, but I think you can only use 32kbits if its a mono track.

You probably have the SVCD template loaded in TMPGenc, which locks most of the settings. Either start a new project in TMPGenc by going file/new project or load the unlock.mcf template after loading the svcd template. This lets you edit all of the settings. For SVCDs I recommend usign either 192 or 224kbits. I wouldnt go any less personally and I think any higher is a waste.

Like Adam said, you can either work without the wizard or find/create a template with the audio unlocked then use the wizard. Check the Tools section for templates. 8)

192 for stereo is pretty good. I usually use 224 for downconverted 5.1 sound.

    Thank you for reply!

    My real problem is:
When capturing with VirtualDub, the best audio setting is PCM, 44100 khz, 16 bit, stereo, 172 kbps (I don't know why and I would like to).
It doesn't make sense to generate a 224 kbps audio file from a 172 kbps one, I don't believe it will improve the quality, right?
For MP3, 128 kbps is a standart for one who wants CD quality, I always use 160 kbps in order to guarantee quality in my audio files. So, I believe that this rule works with MPEG Layer II, What do you say?

  7. To change the audio, load the SVCD template and the unlock template and change the audio under the "settings" tab on the main screen.
