hi,
i have used the step by step guide on how to convert from dvd-9 to dvd-5 and when i go to burn, it says the medium is not big enough!!
i am using dvd decrypter to encrypt dvd to hard drive, then dvd2one to encode to single layer and copytodvd to burn.
i am encoding the full disc and not just the movie but it only seems to reduce to something like 6.5 gig!
please help, any advice would be truly appreciative.
thanks,

Which version of DVD2One are you using? With the newer 1.1.1 you have the option to define the resulting file size and it might be set too high. Please reset it to the default if this is the case. The first versions didn't allow you to change this and compressed straight to the max. capacity of a DVD-R.

i have the newest version of dvd2one. how do i change the final file size setting?
even if the file size is set to max ( 4.7 gig ) then why would it say the file size is over that?
thanks again. -
just my 2 cents...although the medium is rated @ 4.7 gig you can't put 4.7 gig of data on the disc you can however put in 4.3 gig..depending on the media that you are going to use some media have problems on the outer layer of the disc so it is much safer if you reduce the file size between 4 gig to 4.2 gig.. so far I have been successful and no skippping or freezing at the end of the movie...
hope this helps
