very frame dropped

I have a Tv Live card of darteurope with chipset bT878 and when i try capture composite video the VirtualDub crash with very frames lost. The questions is:
With the OS win98Se it is work correctly and with the windows XP crack every time.

Motherboard : ecs kvtav3 chipset Via
CPU: amd2000XP
RAM: 256 333Mhz

First of all
check if your tv card fully supports winXP (try their web site). I 've seen many peripherals that work corectly under other OS to crash under XP, even with the "correct" drivers.

I use computers since 1986 (long before windows even exist) and the most stable microsoft OS I 've seen all those years is win2000, but that is an other story

Another thing you could check is your hard drive. It may be responsible for the framedrops (if it is too old, too small or too fragmented).
