I am going to convert some cd audio's into AC3 using BeSweet. My question is can i author just the ac3 audio with no video, or just a video still. Also, I need to create chapters(no menus). Can this be done with IFO edit or any other freeware program?

Also, I have several DVD Audio discs. I looked in and found that in the Audio_TS folder, the audio is kept in .AOB files. Is there a way to author a dvd video using these files or even decrypt them? Since most of these are 96/24 PCM, I would assume once decoded, my dvd player could play these files.
(I have a 192/24 DAC dvd player, but doesn't support "DVD Audio")

Not quite sure if this gets what you want, but you can rig a music video disc on DVDIt! PE on AC3. Just drop a still image in a menu, and make the menu have a background sound. I do this all the time with old radio shows on non-MP3 DVD players.

The first menu can select the songs (other menus), and each one then has a still background (use an album cover or photo of your band), and then the music will play. When it is done though, it will repeat. I think options exist for no-repeat, but I just change to the next menu when its done.

You can extract the AOB files on your source disc, but don't remember with what anymore. Have you tried VOBedit or BeSweet? Maybe find a plugin for SoundForge.

  3. txpharoah, that's not what he means. AOB files use a different encryption than VOB, which no one has yet cracked. The only thing you can do is use the standard Dolby (sometimes DTS) streams for dvd-video players (if they are included, which in most cases they are).

thanks for the help guys. I wasn't sure if there was any decrption for aob's yet. I realized copying the ac3 or dts stream, the only one I wanted to copy had no DD or DTS group (figures...).
