I'm already using avisynth to IVTC and smooth the avi before TMPEG encodes it but is there anything else I can do besides increase the bitrate when I make an XVCD? Just wondering if I missed something. Thanks.

Yes, 2-Pass VBR. Here is a long thread, discussing it: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139368 Be advised, 2-Pass VBR does take twice as long to encode.

I've been thinking of playing around with the 2 Pass. It can't be longer than Noise Reduction setting. It took 12 hours to do 88 minutes worth of video
Thanks.
