I'm new to DVD burning and have a question about Instant Copy Version 7.0.1.114, which is the latest registered not demo version and the IC7_MovieOnly_reg.zip file.
I want to know it this IC7_MovieOnly_reg.zip will work on this latest version 7.0.1.114?
I just bought a Sony DRU500AX burner and bought DVDXCopy which works fine, but would like to make a decent copy on one disk, not two. I tried the demo version of Instant Copy which I downloaded at www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/ and it works fine, but since it's a demo with a time limit and can't make full copies to CD's in VCD and SVCD format, I ordered the full version at googlegear.com and should have it tomorrow.
I want to have the ability to.:
1. Make a backup copy to one DVD Disk.
2. Have the ability to include and/or exclude the extra crap on most DVD Movies.
3. Be able to make copies of movies in VCD and/or SVCD with Instant Copy can do.
I am aware of DVD2ONE so please don't tell me to buy that program. Instant Copy might not be as fast, but it should do what I want and with the current $20 rebate which makes the cost $24, it's about half the price of DVD2ONE.
With all that said, please respond to my question about whether the IC7_MovieOnly_reg.zip file will work with the full registered version of Instant Copy which shows to be Version 7.0.1.114. Also, I would like to know about "overburning" with this program as from some of the posts I've read, this program seems to leave some unused space on the DVD.
Thanks In Advance
Dave

there is a better reg file available for IC7, check Doom9.net for the latest one.

The reg file is so you can just unselected titles and other things. It should work with any version as long as they don't change values in the register.
As for making VCDs and SVCDs? I wouldn't use IC for those 2 formats at all, simply because IC sucks for it. The quality is terrible... I'd rather use TMPG and I don't like TMPG at all...
There is no overburning with this program... IC doesn't calculate the size very well... As a matter of fact... IC uses the same size concept as Hard Drives... So if you move the slide up to 4.7Gigs... You should end up with 4.38Gigs or so. I've read some comments about this issue on this forum and someone mentioned 4.6 which works like a charm... I always get about 4.31gigs or so which is good.
About IC's price... If you had done a little research, you could've find the guy who posted a link for IC for $17 bucks.

Thanks for the quick response fredie and dhluke.
fredie, I went to Doom9.org and can't seem to find the IC7 file you mentioned. Can you help?
dhluke, have you used Instant Copy with the reg file? If what you said is correct, I guess I can use either the old one or the newer one if I can find it. As far as the price of the program, I did do some research and must have missed the link to the place you can get for $17. With the rebate I downloaded at googlegear.com for $20, it isn't too far off, though at $24 and cheaper the around the $50 for DVD2ONE. -

To do this, isn't it just as easy to do the following
Run REGEDIT
FIND DVDMAGIC
Modify and change the bit from 0 to 1
Exit and its done ? Do the pgms you use do anything further ?
Thanks in advance.... -
exactly simple as that...make sure you have IC closed out. With 7.0.1.114 though there are about 10 new registry entry settings you can change now
-
ahhh...and what do those settings do ?
One thing I wish is when it shows the titles, KNOWIng which group of items they belong to...road to perdition was a bear...LOL -

Thanks fredie and all for all the good info and links!!!!
I got my registered copy yesterday and I did uninstall the demo before I did the full registered version install. I then updated to the latest version.
I will try to change the registry entries and see if that makes it do what I want. Since I'm running Windows XP Home Edition, I'll make a Restore Point before I start to be sure I can restore if needed.
Thanks again and I'm thankful for all the good advice and info!!!

Need some assistance. I can not get IC to write to the Pioneer-a05. I have the reg hack and all the reg changes. When it finishes reading, it says error writing to track ( and alot of numbers). I reduced "bourne Identity" with dvddecryter. Other programs have been able to write to the drive, so it is working correctly. It this will help, I have updated versions of IC7 and the firmware is correct(Cendyne drive). If I can't get it, will abandon for some other program.

i don't know if this helps, but i think somebody had this probelm somewhere else in this forum and they were told to rip with smartripper and then try to burn. if that don't work maybe u have conflicting burning progams

MR Bass has a little program upon his site that I used
It works like a charm to convert the PROPIETARY PDI image file PINNACLE makes into a standard
ISO IMAGE
then you can use a regular burning program NERO,RECORD NOW
to make your DVD's I used it succesfully with Prassi also
You gotta have NTFS cause the resultant
FILE WILL BE OVER 4 GIGS
So use this tool and then you're other program can burn right to the DVD

use pdi2iso like dcsos said rather than PDITOOL ...the latter takes 22mins versus 4mins. Not sure why though
