Hi All,
OK, so my MB and CPU went t*ts up and had to be replaced. I now have a AMD Athlon 1300, and when I capture through my Sony handycam, the picture is, well, sort of mosaic. There appear to be small box-like sections which in themselves have lines running horizontally across them.
I had to reinstall WinXP, and so far its crashed three times. Seems to be holding this time. I haven't as yet tried to capture straight from the camera, only through it.
Anyone got any ideas as what has happened and how I correct it?
If I can add a screen capture of the effect I will.
Bill

Hi,
>Did you format and do a fresh os install?<
Nope, re-install only.
>Did you replace the MB with the same kind?<
No, this one is Gigabyte K7 triton.
>What chipset, What FW card maker, What software are you using to capture,<
AMD Duron 1.3, PC World Generic FW Card, Either VW5 or AP6.
Also, I have tried to capture straight from the Sony handyCam and the picture is fine! Should I re-install the Sony drivers?

Windows 2000/xp are notorious for not wanting to work exactly right if you don't format your drive and the master boot record, then do a full re-install. There are residuals from the old install left that can cause problems. Some people get lucky and don't have any issues, but these people normally want a "web machine" and word processor, they are not trying to do what we are doing with their machines.

You did install the MoBo drivers that came with it. Maybe try updating the BIOS on the MoBo -- Not for the beginner.
