virtualdub can also cut an avi. but why would you want to do that? why make three or more files when you can just use the original avi?

you don't need to cut up an avi. an avi will not play on a dvd player.

  8. If you burn DivX AVI's with NERO as an SVCD compliant, AVI's will be encoded and be watchable on the DVD player.

nero should not be used for encoding avi to mpg. its a horrible encoder.

oh ok. you need to split an mpg. why didn't you say that? you kept going off about splitting the avi. the best way is to use the source range before encoding. but you already encoded. so you can go to the file menu in tmpgenc and choose mpeg tools. the last one is called merge/cut. use that to cut the mpg file.

If you're encoding with TMPGEnc then you don't need to cut the Avi. Use the "Source Range" setting to select which part of the file to encode, then use Batch encoding to create as many mpegs as you want. edit - What Conquest said!

If you really want to cut/edit your Avi then check the section called "Edit". It's right over there <<<<<<<<<<<. You'll find a guide there for the program Virtualdub. It's the best.

You'll find a guide for editting Mpegs with TMPGEnc in the Edit section as well.
