I have looked everywhere for one of these players and seems like most stores only carry their lowest end models. The only place I have seen this player is online. But I don't like online b/c it's a hassle to return merchandise. And yes, I have returned my share of DVD players as most have on this forum I am surprised that CC is not carrying these.

I like the Curtis Mathes, but it's kind of scary when no one can give any feedback on it's reliability within a year or more since this DVD player hasn't even existed that long(to my knowledge). Still, it's been a good player so far. I just wanted to see what Hitachi had to offer since I haven't tried one of their higher end models yet.

  2. sory, i can't help you with the Hitachi, but on a side note, contrary to what others have said, I don't believe the CM will die anytime soon. To me the drive is the most prone to error and you already know that can be replaced easily and cheaply.

  3. someone mentioned that the Samsung M301 and the Hitachi 415U are the exact same machines with different shells. The M301 is available at your local best buy.

You're probably right. My wife even likes this player. The other night when we went to watch a DVD, I was going to use the Apex and my wife kind of rolled her eyes and was like "great"(sarcastically ). She mostly doesn't like the Apex b/c the audio went out so many times when she watched her "chick flick" the other night.
