I want to transfer some of my old VHS tapes to DVD using the Canopus ADVC-100 for capturing and am looking for a good VCR to use for the playback, mine's kind of old and was never that great. I'm thinking of buying a JVC SVHS with built in TBC, either the s7900u, s9900u or s9911u, which I can get for between $250-$350 US. Can anyone tell me if there are any significant differences between those three? I know the s7900u only has the 2MB frame memory but not sure if that really matters. Or, does anyone have any opinions on a better player in that price range? All I really care about is playback quality and getting something that's going to last a good long while. Thanks.

You could also buy one of these:

This will take the place of the Canopus and the cheaper VCR and give you a better VCR.
You can pick up older versions of this model used or refurbished on ebay for $500-$750. I completed my VHS library transfer and sold my HR-DVS2U recently for $650 on ebay. -
That might work but I already have the Canopus and I don't see where the VCR part of that one would be any better than the three I was looking at.
