  1. I just started getting into xVCD's and I can encode them well, but when I go to burn them in Nero they get screwed up. The bar at the bottom shows the time as being ten minutes less than the source video (which is normal), but after I burn it I put it in the standalone DVD player and it says that the length of the disc is ten minutes shorter than the actual video. So when I play the xVCD it's all jittery and shit. If anyone could help me out with this problem I would greatly appreciate it.

The problem doesn't necessarily mean Nero has a fault. Have you checked that your bitrate level doesn't exceed what your DVD Player can take? Check the DVD Player Compatibility list for more info. Try to determine where the fault could lie by playing the finished encoded stream on your pc. Then try playing the xVCD stream (from CD) on your PC etc. That way you can narrow the possibilities.

  3. Hi, Have you deactivate "Create standard compliant CD" in Nero? I have had the same problem!

  4. Yeah I've deactivated standard compliance, it is below my players max. bitrate line, and it plays beuatifully on my pc. I'm stumped, is it normal for the display on the dvd player to show the incorrect time?

  5. Yes, the VCD standard is 1min=10MB, anything else confuses the clock. For example, I've made a 28min xVCD (bitrate=2000) that reads as 55min, and a 95min movie with Sefy's SeVCD template that reads as 77min.

What's the resoultion of the mpeg file? Output is set to 4:3 525line NTSC right?

  6. Yeah man, my resolution is 4:3 525 NTSC. I'm using Sefy's Video CD template. I put a 83 minute movie on a cd and on the dvd player the time reads 79 minute with a menu. The sound and video quality is great the movie just stops and stutters.
