When using 3:2 pulldown on playback in TMPGEnc I have noticed that the output GOP size in the .log file is shorter than what I had specified. IE:

1/7/1/1/15 Closed GOP should produce a GOP of 15 but produces a GOP of 12 when 3:2 pulldown on playback is selected.

1/9/1/1/19 Closed GOP produces a GOP of 15 in the .log file when using 3:2 pulldown on playback but is this DVD compatible?

Does anything happen to the GOP size when the DVD player plays back the file after 3:2 pulldown? Does the GOP stretch out to the originally specified GOP size?

I am unsure because the max GOP allowed for NTSC DVD compatibility is 18, but I have to specify 19 to get the .log to show a GOP of 15.

I can't find out myself as I don't own a DVD burner and can only produce CVD's.

A sorter GOP lenght, shouldn't be a problem.
The maximum GOP structure is limited to 18 ntsc / 15 PAL for DVD - Video.
