If your capture program supports real-time MPEG, then you should be able to fit a minute of video per ~ 10 megs of disk space in VCD-ready format. Only problem is, the quality of realtime MPEG ain't that great.

    A fellow Aussie,

No you can't use mutli-sessions on a VCD or SVCD, only for data copying. VCD and SVCD compliant disks are written as a package in one step so that the controls, chapter pointers and interactive information is relative to whole CD and must adhere to a strict structure.

No you will have to temporarily store your encoded MPG files until you have enough to fill a CD.

  7. What format & resolution do you plan to record in? You might have some space issues. I've done a number of AVI/Huffy based captures myself(640x480),& usually manage around 9Gb for about 23mins.

What minchjp is suggesting is to save the MPG files on the RW disk as ordinary data, in other words just copy the MPG files to the disk the same way as you would any other files.

You are not creating a VCD and the disk is not playable in your stand-alone DVD player, it is just storage. You can also create multi-sessions because it is just data. (NOTE: you will only be able to store up to 700mb in this form).

So when you have filled the RW disk you can then copy the MPG files back to your hard disk and then create the final VCD disk in the proper manner.

Then erase the RW and start on the next batch of encodes.
