  1. I have an mpeg-2 file downloaded from LikeTV that they encoded at 4000kbps. I'd like to lower the bitrate to max 2520 cuz that's the highest my standalone can handle, then burn it as an SVCD. But when I try to load it in Tmpgenc Plus 2.58 it reports: file format unsupported. I tried increasing directshow to as high as 6 without success. Then I read another message here that said installing the trial version of PowerDVD would add the neccessary plugin to Tmpgenc. But after installatimg Powerdvd (and a reboot), there were no new plugins in the listings and Tmpgenc still can't open the file. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Does PowerDVD or any other program run the video?

Interesting. I would try Virtual Dub's MPEG-2 mod from the Tools section, then try Video Studio 6's demo version.

  5. Are you using a trial version?
Use TmpEnc plus, here you can work with mpeg-2 files
