    if i have a dat files , assume i have 1 movie and i wat to convert only middle part and convert to mpg , and not whole movie to convert to mpg for editing because to waste time :

    is that any software can do this ?

    dat to mpg conversion takes only a couple of minutes. So I suggest to convert dat to mpg and after that cut the unused parts of the mpg.
