I was browsing some sites and they mentioned a format called DVCD. has anyone heard of it?

Its a standard VCD pressed onto 90 or 99 minute media. Your settop player should specifically state it supports DVCD before buying/making them. To make them yourself, your burner needs to support overburning, as some burners will stop at 79m 57s anyway, even on 99 minute media.
