hi,

Right lets get to the point , okay I have a VHS tape of a relatives wedding, and I want to make them a DVD copy for thier anniversary.

My hardware for capture is a ATi ViVO gfx card, Im thinking of hooking up the VCR to it and using Atis own capture software, okay so tell me for a start do u think that is sufficient??? or do you maybe recommend another program to Ati's own???

Another thing can u tell me what format I should capture in so it will be easy as pie to import them into authoring software. (mpeg2 dvd compliant?)

Secondly Ive been reading about authroing software and it appears that most are using DVD movie factory 2, please advise me on what you think I should use, the following is what I want to achieve on the final dvd I produce.

- DVD will be PAL 4:3 format (due to source)

- I want a series of intro screens, stuff like whos wedding it is and other stuff etc, I REALLY would prefer to be able to make animated menus here, maybe static backgrounds but at least scrolling text, anyone know of a way to do this? although static backgrounds with static text will suffice

- Also want a single song playing over this intro (a problem with DVDitPE was it wouldnt allow a song to be continuosly played over a series of images - so whenever you went to the next screen it would restart the track)), this why I get the feeling im gonna need to a make a seperate animation of sort with the intro and add audio on top and import the whole thing as a mpeg.

- Allow simple importing of images (not be fussy to hell and only work with one type of picture file!) I will be using these to make the menus look tarted up and also maybe a slideshow of some wedding photos.

- Easy creation of chapter menus but have the ability to control the look of them, (i have DVDitPE and although it makes the preview images for you they are in a dull looking grey box, would be great if i could produce nice looking preview or at least add frill patterns to it

Also please tell me is it going to be best for me capture small bits of the wedding tape or should I capture all of the tape from start to finish? I was thinking capturing parts of the wedding in parts I plan to split them onto the DVD.

Another question I have is how the hell do i know if my mpegs capture will fit to one DVD???

Ive got 2 VHS videos 2Hrs long each, so splitting to 2 DVDs is the only thing I can do I suppose.

Quite a lot thier but DVDit PE just cant do all that for me really and dont wanna waste time messing with all the packages, maybe someone out thier has the answer, somones whos used a fair few packages.

thanks!
