I would like to try the CVD format but I'm not sure which software to use. TMPGEnc and most burning software don't seem to recognize the format. Movie factory, for example, wants to burn a CVD file as either XVCD or XSVCD. Is there software that will allow me to burn the file as CVD without forcing one of the other format headers onto the file?

CVD uses the same header as SVCD. To make a fully compliant CVD template, just take any fully compliant SVCD template (including 44.1k audio) and change the resolution to 352 x 480/576, or you can download puertorican138's CVD template from the tools section and change the audio to 44.1k (puertorican138's CVD template is in actuality a half D1 template, not a fully compliant CVD template.)

    hwoodwar,

Thanks for your response and the information about the file header. I'm new to this whole business so there are a lot of things I don't know. So, if I understand you correctly, I can use a SVCD template with a modification of the resolution and create a CVD disc. Even if Movie Factory wants to burn the disc as an XSVCD, the resulting CD will be CVD compatible, right?

That is correct. The key thing is that you have changed the resolution and moviefactory wants to create it as one of the "SVCD type" formats (in this case XSVCD) so it will encode to MPEG-2 format, vice MPEG-1 format (which you don't want)
