Hi,

Here is my setting for my encoding of my widescreen footage so that in windvd when you open the mpeg file you can view the footage at the correct aspect ratio and when you select pan&scan under the options windvd will chop the sides off so you can see the video in pan&scan.

in TMpg under video tab you select aspect ratio of 16:9 then under advanced you change source aspect to 16:9 and Video arrange method to Fullscreen (do not keep aspect ratio)
The under clip frame chop the top and bottom black borders completely off so that you footage will now be stretched.
Then encode that to Svcd.

now before you author it open the mpeg in windvd and you will see that the video is playing at correct aspect ratio. make it fullscreen and change it to pan&scan and it will automaticaly chop the sides to make it fit the whole screen while keeping aspect ratio?
and of course if you play it in windows media player it will be wrong aspect in the window but should play fine when fullscreen.

Now heres my problem i have just found out when i author the program im using nero and i play it in windvd it plays it as an 4:3 footage and of cause it's out of aspect ratio. but again if you just open the clip on the cd in windvd it will play it as 16:9

so my conclusion is that the svcd authoring program has a perminent setting of 4:3 that tells the dvd player to play it by 4:3.

Is there a vcd/svcd authoring program that lets you tell that each track is Widescreen 16:9 or pan&scan 4:3?

I hope you can understand what i'm trying to achieve
