Ulead vs Dazzle DVD Complete

I had 2 programs for burning DVD movies after capturing from VHS with the Hauppauge Video 250 PVR.

When using Ulead Movie Factory (the bundled version) I could never set up chapters without the program hanging.

Then I tried Dazzle DVD Complete which autogenerates chapters.

Programs burned with Dazzle looked horrible. I had chapters but the recording quality was bad.

Ulead burned everything OK - of course I did not have chapters - but the movie quality was 10x better.

My capture settings were 6 Mbits VBR - DVD long play under Hauppauge.

Any comments? Does the DVD authoring software make a difference when burning an MPG2 file?

Also - I had the audio sync file problem when recording with the Hauppauge card at 6 Mbits VBR. I now record at 5 Mbits CBR since the 6 Mbits VBR is really a peak of 6 Mbits and an average of 4.8 Mbits. When burning 5 Mbits CBR with Ulead I do not have an audio sync problems.

Any comments please?

Well, i'm no expert but i'm pretty sure that authoring program makes no difference in quality after burning. I'm also sure that none of those two programs do reencoding if MPEG2 file was encoded properly.
