  4. Take my word 4 it. DivX has the ability to creat a video that is similar in quality as an HQ Compliant Svcd(2.52mbps),when encoded in HQ, but at an much smaller file size (1,2:3,4) of an Svcd File, However u cannot play a divXencoded video in a stand alone DVD player, DivX is computer only;-(

VCD can produce results that are abit more (kinda an understatmend, for lack of a better term) better then your average non HQ DivX however the file size is bigger(2:1)then DivX=). I would use VCD over divX because of its compliance and ability to play in stand alone DVD players (most of them)

Svcd has Excellent quality when encoded at CBR-2520kbps that in my opinion has much better quality then DivX, it uses MPEG 2 wich is the same Video format as DVD but at a much smaller File size and Bitrate, DVD is normally (9.5mbps and Svcd is 2.52mbps) but at a much bigger file size then both DivX and VCD. I used to encode in DivX because of the ability to fit an entire 2 hour movie on one disk, but I didnt like the fact that it cant play in Stand Alone DVD players, I would rather have my movie on 2 or 3 disks then not be able to watch them at my friends house on their DVD player.

So SVCD is better!!!! Way Better

i use ASF and then RAR for archive

  6. Thnx for all your replys!!

So SVCD has a better quality than DivX and is 2 times bigger.
But I'm usually using 2 Cds for my DivX movies. So shouldn't I use SVCD then?

What would give me the better quality?DivX for fitting a 2h on 2 Cds or SVCD for 2Cds?

    Thank you!!
