I have so far been unsuccessful in burning DVDs with my new Pioneer A05. I tried a test DVD with the bundled Sonic MyDVD, but when it comes to the writing stage it gets to about 20% and then stops. It will not cancel, nor will it close. Using "End Task" in Task Manager works the second time, however even though it is not on the screen the computer insists it's running. Two to three minutes later the computer reboots.
It get the same results with DVDit LE and the bundled InstantWrite.
The A05's firmware is 1.21.
I have been able to burn a data DVD with Roxio and I've also been able to burn a data CD with Roxio on this unit. It will recognize a commercial DVD disk, the computer recognizes it as a Pioneer DVR 105. I did notice that on the driver tab in Device Manager, when I click driver details it calls the driver a "cdrom.sys," "redbook.sys" and "storprop.dll."
Color me confused and in need of help.

Do you have DMA turned on for this drive?. Pioneer DVD writers seem not to like DMA. Reset it to PIO and then try burning a DVD.

Do the following.
When you finish authoring your project.
CHOOSE build DVD FOLDER....not DISC!
then take the two folders built by DVDit on your hard drive
(they will be called VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS)
and drag them to ROXIO's data dvd screen.
In half an hour your DATA DVD disc wil be done
It will in reality be a DVD VIDEO -
Okay, I'm a bit behind on watching this. I live in Honduras and internet service here doesn't always include connecting to the 'net when you want. I will try both your suggestions and post my results.
Thanks alot.

Okay, here's what happened. I changed the secondary IDE off from DMA, downloaded ULead's demo DVD program and burned a DVD. Then I reinstalled DVDit! LE and successfully burned a DVD. Then I reinstalled MYDVD and successfully burned a DVD. I don't know if I can stand all this success.
However, most of those were with a -RW, which for some reason my software DVD player wouldn't play (my set top wouldn't either, but I'm not sweating that because it played the -R just fine).
Other than that, we a up and running and I want to say thank you very much for your help.
