  1. I tried to create an SVCD, but was unable to get it to play.
I would like to know if the MPG used to burn in Nero will normally play fine in Media Player, etc. When trying to view it in MP, it tried to d/l a codec unsuccessfully. VirtualDub reported a packet sync error, and MPEGViewer only played a black screen with artifacts. Should I be able to view the MPG in a player without these problems (assuming the file was made correctly? Nero does not complain about the file being non-standard).

well im high right now so if i didnt understand your post right, forgive me

um, if you notice on the SVCD help files, you cant play a svcd in Media player, you need dvd playing software, such as winDVD 2000.

if your missing some codecs, go download the codecs in the tools section of vcdhelp.com, that always helped when i couldnt view or convert certain files

  3. I would recommend d/loading Videolan (www.videolan.org) it's a freeware DVD/MPEG player. Also remember to play the SVCD you'll need to choose 'open file' and then load the MPEG in the MPEG2/MPEGAV dir.

  6. read these pages

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/burnmpg.htm

    and

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/burnbin.htm

They are both located right here on this wonderful site and will be able to tell you much better than anyone can tell you in one reply. It is easy once you get the hang of the steps, as there are several. Good luck.
