Alternative to Tmpegenc?

My version of Tmpegenc seems to have gone tits-up. I've re-installed it several times but it always comes up with the same error message. So I guess that's me done with being able to use this great piece of software.

Does anybody know another program that does the same things Tmpegenc does? I'm basically converting avi files to Mpeg 2, but every other package I've seen doesn't mux a seperate WAV file with the avi video and that's what I'm looking for.

I'm currently using a trial version of a program called DVmpeg v6, but I don't know how it's going to turn out until it's done.

Can anyone help me out please?
