  1. can anyone point us in the right direction we have been doing vcds and svcd for yrs but have recently purchased a mirror dvd+R RW writer which is bundled with nero express, we have tried using smart ripper and dvd2one to rip and then burn through nero to dvd discs, they will play through the pc but not on standalone dvd players we checked that all players should accept and play the + format but none of our 3 dvd players will play we have tried R and RW disks can anyone help please

  2. One problem may be that you are not "Authoring" the file for burning. If you are used to burning vcds and svcds, then you know you can just burn the compliant mpegs to a cd-r and then play them on a set top player. This isn't so for a dvd-r/rw.

Once you rip using Smartripper or whatever, you need to use an authoring program like Spruceup, SonicDvd, or MovieFactory. This will create the necessary VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders needed to burn in Nero.

Another thing, I haven't used Nero Express but I would suggest using the full version of Nero. Make sure that you are burning with UDF 1.02 and not 1.05. There is a post on the forums about which format to use in Nero to get the most compliant file for playing in set top players.

I hope some of this helps

  3. I had a similar problem but with one of my dvd players it turn out to be the version of Nero i was using seemingly 5.5.10.0 has a bad dvd template so i tried Record Now and that worked for me the dvd that did not play now play everything i put in. It might not fix your problem but its worth at try.

  4. make sure too that you have all the files in the "VIDEO_TS" folder before burning and it is caps sensitive....I notice that dvd2one doesn't create a video_ts folder for you..

    hope that helps

Are you using the DVD-Video option to burn? If so try the UDF option, you will have to manualy creat teh VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. The make sure you use UDF 1.02 format. The DVD-Video option uses the UDF 1.05 format which cant be read by many older DVD players. I would try this and if that doesn't work try a different media or burning program. Good Luck!!!
