  1. I'm in the US, but I need to make a DVD for a friend in England. I'm guessing I need to make it PAL, but at what point do I need to "convert" the video to PAL? Or do I even need to?

I use DVD Studio Pro. Is it as simple as switching the "Video Standard" button from "NTSC" to "PAL" (in the "Property Inspector" box) leaving all other files alone, as if I were burning a regular NTSC disc?

Or do I have to convert the Quicktime files to PAL before encoding them as m2v files?

I use iMovie, so would I export the video using the "DV PAL" option?

    TIA,
    Dan

  2. Hi,
Yep, PAL is video standard throughout Europe. Yr friend will need the PAL copy if he wants to play the DVD on his home player.
Studio Pro can output either NTSC or PAL VIDEO_TS. Just switch to the one you want. As simple as that.

DVDSP will expect 720x576x25fps for PAL so it's not so simple. Luckily it's even simpler! Just about every DVD player and TV in Europe this side of the stone age will happily play and display NTSC DVD's - just make sure they're region free.
