Hi all,
I have a load of vcds from a mate that i`d like to make copies of but ADD a menu. The vcds currently have 3 episodes of manga on, each with 4 chapter points.
I`d like to add a nice graphic on the vcd loading, with text descriptions of each chapter point the viewer can jump to.
I`m ok with making menus via nero express, but am unsure if i can add menus to an existing vcd. Would I have to digitise all the footage and remake the vcd?
hope that makes sense,
thanks,
cyke

hi,
here goes my tip of advice
i've had more or less the same situation as you so i know
perfectly well what you're talking about.
i'd suggest: forger about nero, forget about ulead's and
forget about $$$ tools when you have the greatest tool
you can think of: VCDEASY (running VCDIMAGER).
VCDEASY is pretty straightforward once you've played
around with it a little bit. the official webpage has manuals
for you to make your first steps and then get into more
advance menu and submenu editing.
i make the menus with any graphic editor, the cooler
they look to you the better. then just use vcdeasy
to sort everything out and get the cd-r image done
for you. vcdeasy can even make the still mpegs menus
out of jpg tiff files, so that's great. even more, you
can add your own chapters to any mpeg file in vcdeasy
at any time, or every x seconds or minutes... you can
even make a capture of the image at a specified time
where you are making a chapter, and then you can
use it to make a menu tiff file just the way any advanced
and $$$ program does. once you've got the cd image
burn it with nero.
(nearly) the limit is your imagination.
vcdeasy ROCKS!!!

I don't think VCDeasy is the direct answer to thecyke's question.
Sure, you can do menu-creation with it, but are you also able to 'rip' vcd's having the original styles/menu's/entry-points etc?
For sure, I can advise you to use VCDwizard for this purpose.
VCDwizard is something similar like VCDeasy, but besides a GUI of VCDxBuild it also has the counterpart VCDxRip build in : You can rip complete (S)VCD's (directly from your cdrom inside win32, or already ripped Nero/cdrDAO cd-images), with inclusion of all streams (mpegs/custom files) and with preservation of any PBC (menu's) and entry-points, already existing at te disk.
It will load the ripped project inside VCDwizard immediately, all you have to do is doing your modifications and/or additions. Then you can re-create the desired cd-image (for Nero as NRG or cdrDAO as a cue/bin or toc/img).

hi,
well, certainly vcdeasy can rip a vcd out from:
1) cd reader
2) cd image file
it has many tweak features and you can even choose
the 2336 bytes checkbox! Wow! i hadn't realized till
now! so it can even rip 100min cd-r!!
you can find the ripping tool in the tools tab.

ps. i'll have a good look at the proggie you suggest.
