my friend needs someone to copy wedding videos that are in dvd format into mpeg format that are about 2 hours each...he said he would pay me to do it and I am wondering how long would each dvd take and what tools would I need? Also...what should I charge him for doing this...thanks

The wedding videos are supposed to be on single layer DVD-R's This means you may just copy them with a DVD recorder. You don't have to rip or encode or whatever.
Time depends on media and recorder. If you have both a DVD ROM and recorder, you can practicaly do on-the-fly duplication. With x1 speed media expect 1 hour for a full DVD (4.7 Gb files size). x2 speed media cut time in half. Also, partially filled DVDs require proportionatelly less time.
No other tools are required except your DVD recorder and burning program.
Now, for how much to charge himit's up to you. I would charge for the media only (for a first time favour) and if he becomes a customer, would charge an additional 10% of the media cost for tear and wear of the recorder. (They break after a while you know
