  1. I want to know what DVD-R Media has played back the best and been the most universal in your Standalone DVD Players.

I have had the most success with Apple DVD-R's they work in every DVD player I put them in and never seem to have any problems playing back. But they cost the a lot.

The worst has been Princo General Data DVD-R's, they seem to give me the most trouble, and don't work in may standalone DVD players. But they are cheap.

What has worked the best for you?

Apple's 2x DVD-R media now costs $14.99 for five pieces, which is slightly less than what I was paying for my next most reliable brand of media, Memorex. I've since stopped buying Memorex because Apple ships for free.

The 4x Riteks are what I would recommend they burn and verify in about a half an hour, they have a very dark purple bottom and can be purchased for less than $2.00 each in bulk.

I got some off of eBay. 25 DVD-R with DVD case for around $35 including shipping. They work fine in my SuperDrive (A04), and play in our set-top DVD player (SonicBlue).

    They are labeled as "Legacy DVD-R: DVD-RECORDABLE" 4.7GB, 120Min.

Then on the side of the pack, and on the auction site it has the compatibility. Works with all...

    Apple SuperDrives
    Compaq Presario 8000/6000
    Pioneer DVR-A03 and -A04
    Pioneer DVR-2000/3000/7000/9000 Video Recorder
    Panasonic DMR-E20, DVR-103, DVR-104, DVR-E30

Haven't tried any other set-top players besides my SonicBlue.

  5. Well... the Apple DVD-R that I got with my computer I kinda screwed up the burning on.

The 25 spindle of Princo DVD-R 4.7GB (Plain white) I've had problems with only one DVD, but the DVDs have worked fine in the following.

    Sony PS2
    Pioneer DV-353K
    Pioneer SuperDrive
and two other 3 DVD players that I can't seem to remeber the brand of.

I just bought a spindle of Starmedia that I haven't yet tested.
