  1. I have successfully ripped and converted Fatboy Slim Live on Brighton Beach DVD to SVCD using DVD2SVCD with great results.

SO what I wanted to do was rip the audio off and make a Cd for my car.
So when I opened the vob file in Vdub (mpg2 mod for version 1.4) it asked me which AC3 audio stream I wanted AC3 81 or 83 or 89.....

I picked the first one which has great sound quality but still was uneasy cause i don't know much about it ripping...my guess is they probably are all the same but if someone would enlighten me that would be greatly appreciated
How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?

If you like Tekno download one of my tracks

No the audio tracks are not all the same. If you use Smartripper you can click on stream processing before ripping the DVD. Here it will tell you what each of the streams is. You can also use Flaskmpeg to find out which audio track is what.

No, each sequence may have several audio tracks. So something like a trailer or behind the scenes segment will probably just have one single audio track. A deleted scene may have the main audio and the director's commentary, etc..

The Main movie will pretty much always have several audio tracks. Usually it will at least have a dolby digital and a dolby 2.0 track for whatever the primary language is. It may then have other tracks for different languages or may have 1, 2, or even 3 director's commentary tracks. And then more and more dvds these days are coming out with a DTS track as well.

The order that the tracks are on the dvd are going to vary, but usually the Dolby digital track comes first unless there is a DTS track. So most of the time you are ok by just selecting track number 1, but its best to analyze the dvd first using either smartripper or flaskmpeg.

  5. Are there any guides around for ripping a music DVD with AC3 or DTS etc
to Audio CD out there maybe someone can write one.....

In the end I just used the encoded mpg2 file and ripped out the wav using vdub mpg2 mod and burnt the CD that way....Sound quality was suberb...not AC3 but still 441hz 16bit Stero is pretty much the standard no complaints here
