  1. Im using my Hauppauge WINTV Go capture card ($100) and i am capturing (viewing tv) from my digital receiver (Direct tv satellite) and I'm seeing a grainy picture on my monitor display, almost like I'm watching television from cable... Heres the setup I got and I want to know if it's my cables that Im using or the capture card itself:

Satellite --> Receiver = Black RG6 coax cable

Receiver --> Capture Card = White RG6 coax cable

there the same cables I'm currectly using to watch my television and it looks crystal clear; yet my tv is a 10" screen so i wouldn't know...

So my main concern would be to ask if it's my Capture Card or my cables itslef? If its my capture card then ill look into getting a better capture card inthe near future.....but if its my cabvle then ill go to radio shack right now and Ill buy some new cables asap.... Thnxs in advanced and I really appreciate it...

RG6(RF) is always the worst way to copy/capture. You should use separate video and audio cables. Your Sat.receiver must have video and audio output jacks. Does your capture card have video or s-video in jacks, use them if it does. If no audio input jacks then plugging into your sound card should work.

OK i found out thanks to you that my receiver has RCA video cables (output) and so does my capture card (input)... now thing is the grainy is still there but differently... .could it be the kind of video cable im using? right now i am currently using the Radio Shack video cable.... but if you can tell me if a better high quality cable will do the trick then please let me know.
