  1. Ok I have this weird problem.

With my FINALIZED DVD-R disc from my HS2 say I wanna copy one.
It's just a collection on TV shows, nothing copy protected.

Well on my older version of nero 5.5.7.2
I put the disc in my pioneer 104 and copy to the hard drive.

    Works great.

However when I try to go up to a newer version of Nero, even the newest 5.5.10.7 I cannot do this. It says some thing like "can only read 1st track"
    and spits it out.

Does anyone have an explanation and/or fix for this??

Does the HS2 make copy protected discs? Do I need to run it through dvd devripter first? Again all it was was free broadcast TV shows.

    thanks in advance

The problem isn't with copy rotection, the problem is how the DMR HS2 burns the disks. It isn't a standard format, which is why Apex and Daewoo players have trobles playing the disks.

  3. Ohhhh.
Ok. But is there anyways you know what I can get these to be read in the newer versions of nero?? Why would a newer updated one not read it but an older one will? Is there some option I need to check?

  4. This seems to be a random thing . I also can't copy directly using Prassi PrimoDVD, the for-runner of RecordNow ... If I just use explorer to copy over the VIDEO_TS folder, the resulting disk is computer only. HOWEVER, if my friend copies that HS2 recorded disk on his MAC using "Toaster" that works fine AND I can use that as the source for my Prassi.

And if you don't think THAT didn't take more than 3 minutes to figure out ..... :P

  5. Thanks. Well I will either try the copying video_ts folder trick or just stick with the older nero that works.

I was just about to mention that. The application 'Toast' will copy them just fine. Go apple.

So darkhunter all you need to do is get a mac....you'll love it.

  7. Go apple.
    Heaven forbid

Actually, I'm told Toaster is the MAC version of Roxio's EZCD Creator. So I'm hoping I can get that to work - once I get up the courage to re-install it (yes - I know where the updates are to get around those pesky bugs that destroyed any operational computer in the original platinum version!). It isn't too convenient to have to bring a disk in to work, have my friend who does NOT work for me copy it on his boss's machine

I have a Panasonic DMR E20 which records in the same format : .VRO files
these files cannot be read on my Mac but can indeed be copied using Toast
    But:
    - the DVD-R's that I record on the Panasonic play well on my Panasonic RA 80, a Pioneer 444, an older Panasonic a360 , a Thomson 220 (all in the "family")
-copies of those DVD-R's made with Toast, play well on the RA 80 and the DMR E20, not at all on the A360 or the Thomson 220, sometimes on the Pioneer 444
    - copies of those DVD-R's made with Mac Diskcopy program play well on ALL machines mentionned

  9. LOL ... well I can't say exactly who what plays where when ... so far, I don't worry about disks burned in the HS2 cause everywhere they've been tried they've worked. As far as the copies made thru RecordNowMax made from the Toast copy, I can't say exactly how many players they'll work in. I quickly lost track which disks that went out of here were direct HS2 burns vs those that went around the circle. But I think this just emphasizes it's all a crap shoot.

  10. i have the panasonic dmr-hs2 deck. Ok i do not burn in ram but use the regualr dvd-r, i also have a pioneer dvd burner (104) for my pc. i copy made disc from my panasonic to my pc and reburn them all the time

THIS MAY HELP you if you have a problem copying the dvd-r
YOU need the programs "ifoedit", open up the main video_ts.ifo in the VIDEO_TS folder that you copied from your panasonic made dvd disc, then hit the button in ifoedit "get gts sectors" it will fix all the sectors, save the new ifo and burn your disc.

if you use an actual ripper (such as smart ripper) (which isnt neccessary for panasonic made dvds) these keep all the correct structures of your disc and therefore you can just burn it after copying, but if you just copy and paste the video_ts folder on it's own, for whatever reason it does not keep all the correct info of where things are and this is why ifoedit is needed. this maybe the reason why you are having trouble burning disc

  11. Thanks! That's really interesting! I've avoided getting involved in ripping and ifoedit and all that nitty gritty stuff ... But this sounds simple enough. If the EZCD Creator won't work, I'll try that.

I still don't understand why the PC should require this ifoedit fixing and toaster doesn't for resulting in standalone playable disks. But then, not a lot in this biz makes a lotta sense

  12. darkhunter,

I just posted the same problem with my Panasonic DMR-E20 (I did not see your post before I posted). I am going back to Nero 5.5.8 or 5.5.9. I know I made copies before and now I get the same thing you are.

    Good luck.

  13. darkhunter,

Well I just loaded Nero 5.5.8 and it copies a DVD created from my E20 just fine (created an image to the hard drive). I guess 5.5.10 won't let us do it.
