dvd playing problems - dvd video only

Hi,

I am using dvd decrypter, dvd2one and Nero.

My stanalone and pc will only play dvd-r burned using the Nero template for dvd video. If it is burned using udf or udf/iso the discs will not play.

I have tried using record now 4.5, creating a image with spruce dvd premastering and the discs will still not play.

Is Nero the only program with dvd video ?

My manual for the standalone says the player will play discs recorded using Version 1.1 of the video recording format. Can someone advise what this is ?

I can understand the standalone being fussy, but the pc dvd burner or the dvd rom will not play any disc unless it is done using the dvd video template.

I would like to be able to share the discs I burn with friends etc, will there players be able to play this format ?

If your DVD's work with the DVD Video template (the way it is supposed to be for DVD Videos) why should you want to switch to udf or udf/iso??

DVD Video should be sufficient for regular playback.

If it is burnt in the correct template and it doesn't work in your PC/DVD:
- bad authoring
- bad media
- bad DVDROM drive

I suppose I want the greatest compatibility with other dvd players / pc's.

What is the difference between the templates ?

Bad media or illegal software (is known for creating coasters).

II am using original Nero 5.5.9.14 upgraded to 5.5.10.7b software which came with the drive and the trial version of Recordnow.

I am using Bulkpaq media -r discs and Datasafe -rw

The discs burned on the dvd template in Nero will however play on a PS2.
