He said it does not happen when he uses the same burner on his friends setup. At least that's how I read it.

Alexandre, you have shown the problem is isolated to your setup so I would start with software. Make a ghost backup of your machine and try loading windows back on and just burning software to see if the problem is still present, if it is then you can ghost your original image back on and figure out what hardware is causing your problems.

  5. Hum.

Exactly what are the errors found in the error log? Is it the name or actual data that wrong? Did you burn the same exact files on both systems? How long are the filename? Any strange character in them?

  7. Tnks. Usualy get hit with the strange character/long name error.

When you burn what else do you have running. IE tray icons etc.
Do both have DMA on or off on that port where the DRU500A is connected to?

Are you running the b version of Nero {5.5.10.7b}? Came out yesterday. Are both running the same version?

  11. The problem is prob nero, try using record now max or dvd decryptor. Both of these have never given me a prob with my sony dru500a with 1.0f firmware.

  12. Hate these type of problems and I work and design system for clients. There is a million thing that could cause it. And no two systems are alike.

The main thing is to "cut/split" the problem. IE split in half the system. Is it this group or that. The do again untill you find the problem. There is a way to turn off stuff when things load. Not sure what XP called the setting item to do that. Basiaclly turn off all except for basic items.

Or if you could locate a small HD to temp put a OS on { XP will allow itself to run for 30 days with out registration } 10 to 20gb would do. And just put the min on. OS/Drivers/Program for Burnner. If still a problem odd are its a MB thing. Else its a software problem.

    Good luck on the hunt.
