I give up! I am new to the forum, so hello forum.
I have been trying to convert video files to DVD with NERO VISION and have been able to burn DVD's that will play in my DVD ROM, however, they will not play in a conventional DVD player. My system says that the files are AVI before conversion. I am using DVD-R media, and of course a DVD burner. I know it cannot be as easy as just burning it to a DVD-R and thats it...What am I missing?
Also, if a file is more than the standard 4.7GB(120 minutes) is there sofware available that will compress large files to fit a standard DVD-R?
I have also tried to use the Blaze media convert and have had no luck. It says that the software will convert video files to DVD compliant video. All I get is alot of waiting, and all for an error message!
Please help...

Can you tell us the exact model DVD player you are using? I checked the database for Go-Video and odds are even money whether your player is one of the ones that play DVD-Rs.
Second, if your video is more than the size to fit on a DVD disc, you will have to delete some files or, use two disks to hold your entire video. Or buy DVD2One to make it fit on one DVD.
Lastly, you may also want to try TMPGEnc to convert your video to DVD format before burning.Hello. -
IIIIIIIII'll beeee! It is a GO VIDEO! BUT I'm still not sure that it will play in others either. Could it be that the files are AVI before transcoding?

Nero supposedly converts them before burning them to DVD. I am skeptical, as I see too many posts about that problem and this phenomenon.
Also, what is the MODEL NUMBER of your Go-Video player?Hello. -
What is TMPGEnc? Software? Where can I get it?
The model # of my GO VIDEO isVP850

The two people who reported they have one say it does play DVD-Rs but do not say much else. Anyway, go to the Tools section at left and look up TMPGEnc. It is program a lot of us use to encode our video before burning to disk.
