  1. ok..after i encode the movie and have my mpg file of the whole movie, how do i split it up into 2 parts to put on cdr's, can i do this after encoding, or do i have to do it while its encoding, im usin tmpgenc12j, just curoius on which one i gotta do

  2. in tmpge use the mpeg tools and select merge and cut.

  3. ok thanks for the replies, i got it now, is svcd better quality when i do this? and also if i select video-cd is it ready to play in home dvd players?

    It depends on the source. At least for dvd conversion I recommend SVCD.
    2.Check the DVD player compatibility list.

  5. if i select vcd, and i put it in 2 parts for cdr size, what does it still say mpg file format

    yes, it is still .mpg.

    I think I misunderstood that before. When you split a file, you can select, whatever you want, it does not effect the quality at all. When you cut a .mpg it is just a process of demultiplex and multiplex.
    However, when I said, I recommend SVCD, it means a conversion to a SVCD compliant MPEG-2.

  7. ok, so mpg means that its ready to be burnt and played in a home dvd player if the dvd player is compatible to cdr's right?? i think that is what i got from all of this
    and another thing, anyone have an idea on how much longer it takes when you do a higher quality instead of normal, on my computer for the dvd Hannibal it took 6 hours and 5 minutes for a 2hour and 11 minute movie, how much longer would that take?
