Hey guys,
I've been the proud owner of a pioneer A04 drive and, after seeing 4 posts about this drive failing on people, I think I'm going to give up trying to fix the drive and just move on to a better one. Since I'm already using the dvd-r format I'd like to stay with it but wouldn't mind switching over to a hybrid drive (sony's)- any suggestions? Speed is not really an issue but reliability and price are (I'm a student)... I've seen the toshiba dvd-r drive (2x) going for $180 USD- is this a good drive? Reliable? Is my experience with the A04 a freak occurance or are these drives just very fragile? I'd feel retarded buying the same drive (or the a05) only to run into the same problem again.. I'm beginning to get a bit cynical after both my daewoo dvd player and my dvd-rw drive failed on me with in weeks of each other - maybe I just use burn / watch too many dvds..
