I was capping a one hour VHS tape yesterday. I was using virtualvcr with huffyuv compression (like I always do) and took a peak at it about 45 minutes into it. Only 1 dropped frame so I figured all was good. A little while later I heard the VCR click at the beginning of the tape (you know, when it auto rewinds) and I noticed virtualvcr had crashed. I could not open the AVI file with virtualdub and WMP wouldn't play it. Judging from the filesize of about 11GB, I figured it capped it all but went crazy when my VCR powered itself off after I rewinded. Anyone else seen anything like this?

I don't use Virtual VCR. But something like this happened with AVI_IO and VirtualDub. It's extremely rare. Only two times during hundreds of hours of capturing. Don't know exactly why. But I have a hunch that I might have forgotten to turn off some unnecessary programs running in the background.

I think I figured this out. What virtualvcr didn't like was when the tape rewinded and stopped, it flashed up a second or so of white noise (snow). That's when it crashed. I did it again and caught it in the act.
