  1. Hi there.... I originally had my Sony DVP-S530D dvd player hooked up to a Sony STR-DE625 amplifier. I have since bought a Sony STR-DE975 amplifer with a decoder built in, and have been using the digital optical connection between the two.

I am thinking about buying the Sony DVP-NC600 5 disc dvd player, and hooking it up to the same STR-DE975 amplifier with the same optical cable. Here are my question's:

    - Should l get the same quality picture and sound as I did with the DVP-S530D?
    - What are the main differences other than the fact that the new one doesn't have a decoder on board, (and has the 5 dvd capacity)?
    - Is there anything major that I may miss from my old player?
    - I understand that the DVP-NC600 will play CD-R/RW's... is there any brand that has been found not to work?
    - I've read that it doesn't have the 5.1 rca type plugs, but that shouldn't matter in my situation of having the digital connection to the amplifier with the built in decoder, correct? (In other words, will I still have the 5.1 digital sourround sound)?

I plan on moving my old amplifier and DVD player downstairs, but I want to make sure that I'm not sacrificing some features that I'm not thinking about by getting the new one. I appreciate any and all help with this matter.

    Lethal.
