I recently picked up a 50 pack of Lead data disks and mysteriously, my 105 was burning some of them at 1x and some of them at 2x. When I looked at the IDs, half of them were lead data and half were sony. It looks like the 105 officially burns at 2x for the sonys. The serials #s on all 50 disks were sequential, so they are clearly from the same batch.

I read somewhere that Lead Data OEMs 80% of their disks to Sony and TDK so the disk ID is probably not fake. So, I wonder if these lead data disks are exactly the same as Sony/TDK? Or perhaps they test each disk, and label them according to the quality?

I wonder why the 105 firmware recognizes the Sony for 2x burning and the LeadData for 1x?
