  1. This prtable MP3/CD player also plays NTSC and PAL VCD's!!!
It's as small as a regualr Discman and it comes with all the cables, AC Adaptor and a 32 button remote. Very cool
Has anyone tried it by any chance?

    You sound excited by this.

Let em tell you the concept of MP3/VCD portable players is not new - maybe 3-4 years old.

I own a Napa DAV-310 (the first website I found with info, but not necessarily the cheapest) and find it to be adequate, but not fantastic.
It does everything it says it does, but quality is probably a bit lower than desired...but, for the price and convenience, it's quite OK.

I suspect the 'Egoman' is of similar cheap chinese build quality.

Oh... and they don't play SVCDs or XVCDs, just standard VCDs

  3. Yeah i was excited... but only cause I can buy it in a local store.. not off the net like I could have for aprox 1.5 years now. and what do you really expect from a VCD player that costs $99 Canadian ($55 US?). I mean the cheapest home-standalone is only like $10 cheaper.

Also I am planning on using it on a 4" LCD screen that is in my Truck so the image quality is not too big of a concern. The VCD movie has more pixels then the screen

And I figured that it would have to only play VCD..no SVCD nor XVCD. I'm sure I'd have to reencode my current VCD's as they are not quite up to VCD Spec. Hehe

But my home DVD player plays almost everything so I can't really us it as a compatability testing tool. This little puppy may just be the ticket. requiring you to stick to strict VCD guidlines I assume.

when i first found out about these i got very excited but then i was let down by their very limited use... if you're looking for a portable video solution i would look are archos jukebox multimedia 20... i bought one awhile back but started using it alot recently because of the firmware up grade (near perfect xvid decodeing now)... these are expensive solutions though but if you are going to use it alot it will be well worth the money also keep you eye out for the rca lyra this summer
You win some, and you lose some, and some get rained out...
