I have an .avi file that was captured from a Sony digital camcorder. I now want to "capture" this avi file using Studio 8.0, and try to get scene detection during the capture process. I would like to end up with an mpg file that can be edited before being burning into DVD.
Can this be done?
Thanks.

Why not capture the DV file directly with Studio 8? In any event, you can open the file in Studio 8 and convert it to mpeg-2. I am not sure if the detection of scenes can be made on an existing file.
You are better off editing the DV avi file before encoding to mpeg-2. -
Any video editing software that does scene detection and can't do it on an existing file should be quickly returned.
