  1. I have a Divx video here that has had problems from the first time I got it. Orginially the movie had out of sync audio/video and when I open it in VirtualDub it tells me that it has:

"improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will re-encode ... This may introduce upto 13606ms skew from the video stream... reencode with a Constant Bitrate Encoder."

Well I have started to do that process. In VirtualDub I had audio -> direct stream copy, and then I removed the full uncompressed WAV from the movie which left me with a 900mb or so sized file.

This is where things get difficult. What is a CBR program I can use to multiplex the orginial AVI video stream together with the uncompresed WAV audio stream so that this divx file will be working fine? My ultimate goal is to turn this divx movie into a DVD that does not have any sync related problems.

any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

  2. I would use AC3Machine and BeSweet to convert the WAV to AC3 and use VirtualDubAC3 to mux the AC3 together with the video. That way, when you are ready to convert it to DVD you will already have the ac3 file for hte audio.

  3. I'm not too much worried about having it in AC3 format just yet. I really want to do 2 things, first get the audio and video back in sync so I can fix and resave the Divx movie for archival purposes. Then second make it into a DVD. Right now tho getting the divx avi and a fixed audio stream to re-multiplex into a single file with synced audio and video is my top priority.
