  1. Hey All

I am in the UK and i captured an NTSC vhs with the Canopus ADVC100(which i specifically bought so that i might capture my ntsc videos)...at first after capturing to DV i used TMPGEnc to convert to Pal VCD..after seeing the picture had nasty "action lines" i tried converting to NTSC VCD and since this looked a lot better,i realised that you must capture to the same format as your source.

anyway..with some previous PAL VHS captures i burned the file on my mac with toast and everything was fine....however..burning these NTSC VCDs with the same application produces coasters that crash PowerDVD and refuse to run on my DVD Player in much the same way SVCDs refuse to run.

Now what puzzles me is that i have downloaded hundreds of VCDs and burned them and as long as they are not SVCDs my dvd player is more than happy with them as is power dvd on my laptop...im sure that at least a few of these downloaded vcds must have been NTSC so why am i having problems with my homemade NTSC vcds?

    Any help would be great,thks

  2. Well..have been advised to just create Pal vcds..and to get around the "action lines" problem..learn to use the "De-Interlace" feature in TMPGEnc..which is what i shall now do!
