    Hi all ,

What i actually need is a step by step general guidelines for going from a 8mm tape to a dvd. Which software to use and so on . I guess it should be a 3 step process: Capture, convert and burn.

All i need is the name of the softwares that can do these steps. I will do the rest.

    Thanks a bunch in advance.

I have a Sony digital-8 and use a Panasonic E-30. works great, no software needed!

I have a DVD-R/DVD-RAM burnner and a new today (179 at officemax) A05/105 DVD-RW. I have used just to make a copy of a DVD. So far so good. I also have a terapin VCD recorder. Having made VCDs both with software and direct with a stand alone recorder, I went for a DVD recorder. I do NOT regret going the DVD recorder route for making original DVDs.

Quick, simple and great results. I record my source a DVD, VHS tape, 8mm tape or digital-8 tape source using a VCD or DVD recorder then use the burnners to make copies.

Particularly Reilly's comments of Dec 05, seems to answer your question.

I've been referring to this post to undertake similar conversions.

It's a tough read, but you should find some good bits to help you out.

    Thanks JD,

Now i didn't quite get your message , do you need to do any capture first or does the software automatically convert the data and burn it to DVD?

I will need the software route because this whole thing is not for me .

All i have to work with is the camera ,my computer and pretty soon a dvd burner.

    Thanks
