Hi, just wondering if someone can give me a few tips on converting svcd to dvd, have converted a few, but do get some problems with some, also seems to take a very long time, about 2 hours per disc, through tmpgenc. Any tips would b much appreciated. Tmpgenc settings, best programmes etc.
Many Thanx

Look to the left: http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcddvdr.htm
There are two 'problems' with converting SVCD to DVD: 1) SVCDs do not use a supported DVD resolution (720x480, 352x480 or 352x240); 2) The audio needs to be converted to 48khz
Like the guide on the above link I use DVD Patcher to change the resolution and TMPGenc w/ SSRC to change the audio.
Then author with DVD Maestro.
1) De-mux SVCD MPEG in TMPGenc to m2v + mpa files
2) Open the MPA file in TMPGenc and re-encode at 48khz
3) Use DVD Patcher to change resoution to 352x480
4) Author m2v + mpa in DVD Maestro -
Thanx for the reply, but which way would i tackle this option ?? would i try this with each disc seperately ?? I have tried to join the svcd's with tmpgenc, but the sound is out of synch, the way i have done it b 4 is by seperating the vid/audio through DVD2AVI, then in tmpgenc i bring the mpa and d2v files back together seperately(Disc by Disc), tmpgenc then allows me to join the 3 svcd's together without the audio out of synch, but it takes between 2-3 hours per disc, is there a quicker way of converting or even a more stable programme to allow me to join the svcd's without seperating aud/vid ??
Many Thanx

I had the same problem once. Then I found that first we need to join the mpg-2 files as they are with TMPGEnc, and only after that demultiplex to get the video and audio separeted.

The easiest thing to do is to just keep each video/audio combo seperate and then add them to the same timeline in Maestro. That would solve your sync problems. You can do this seamlessly.

That is the problem i have been having with tmpgenc, when i try to join the 2 or maybe 3 files as they r, the sound goes right out of synch, if i split them through dvd2avi 1st, then pull them back into tmpgenc i can join them ok after i have put the aud/vid back together, but it seems to take about 2 hours plus per disc to put aud/vid back together, just wanted to know if there was a quicker way to do this, and if so how ??

If you want faster encoding you can use cce (cinemacraft encoder).
If you want no video encoding time at all(only audio encoding) make a xdvd/dvd-svcd as satstorm suggested. -
Thanx for the advice, but i have never used cce to encode, not on it's own, have programme installed on pc for use with backing up my original dvd's to dvdr, with DVD2SVCD, could u please explain how to encode with cce ?? or is it too long an explanation ???
Many Thanx Again

Encoding with CCE isn't that hard, but unlike TMPGenc there are no templates. That alook at the faqs/guides at doom9.org esp:
http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cce_guide.htm
http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cce-advanced.htm
As always a great place to start with all your questions is the links to the left or the master guide page at doom9
http://www.doom9.org/doc-overview.htm
Normally I frameserve to CCE using Avisynth
