My father has bought a lot of DVD's that are from Russia. They are in english, but they have Russian subtitles at the bottom.
If I burn them to a (S)VCD format will the subtitles go away?
If not, is there a way to delete them?
Thanks for your help.

If everything is infinite then nothing is definite.

It depends, are the subtitles encoded as part of the DVD or are they selectable? If they are hard encoded then no, you can't get rid of them without cropping out the bottom of the movie. But if they are selectable then you can lose them.

What if you "explore" the DVD and the Russian subtitles have a file for itself, is there a way to rip the DVD without that file?
Maybe if you choose the files from a program like Smart Ripper?
Thanks for the help, this is actually very interesting information. If everything is infinite then nothing is definite. -
Are you trying to keep them or get rid of them. And when you play DVD, can you turn them off ?
Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
I'm trying to get rid of them. At the moment I do not have the Russian DVD's with me. But I believe they are hard encoded.
