How to put SVCD MPEG2 on a DVD±R/W without reconverting the video
http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcddvdr.htm

Now that you have read the GUIDE, here are my suggestions for improvement. Instead of Authoring with Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 I used DVD Maestro. This allowed me to add CHAPTERs.

1. You need to do ±RW media to test the results otherwise you will have a lot of coasters!

2. I did STEP 1 & 2 from the GUIDE

3. I did NOT do step 3, left the video and audio separate for Maestro.

4. STEP 4 with DVD Patcher, I used the .M2V file and changed the HEADER to 720 x 480 as suggested to make the authoring program think it is a true DVD file.

5. For STEP 5 I used MAESTRO. I IMPORTed MEDIA ASSETs the audio .MP2 file and the header modified (720 x 480) .M2V video file. Maestro then PARSES the file and creates CHECKED video .PRV and CHECKED audio .PAR files. SAVE the PROJECT file.

6. Exit Maestro

7. My Pioneer 525 DVD player does not like the 720 x 480 SVCD file as explained in OPTIONAL STEP 6 - CHANGE BACK THE "HEADERS" of the GUIDE. So I had to do this step. Your player may accept it. I did not save the original video file so I had to restore the header to 480 x 480 in the .M2V video file.

8. Open Maestro and OPEN your saved project. If you changed the header back to 480 x 480 Maestro does not care because it has already been parsed.

9. Do your Maestro thing, add CHAPTERS, MENU's, etc.

10. COMPILE in Maestro. You will get a warning about audio not being correct format which I ignored.

11. Burn DVD

The SVCD movie I am converting to DVD has 4 .MPG files. I have only worked with the first mpg. I do plan to edit the files and cut out any overlapping scenes before it put the all together.

Note: if you are loading more than one .M2V file in Maestro, you need to follow these steps. This example has 4 video and audio files.

1. load all your m2v files on the video movie time line ... that is only the video section laid out on 1 time line ... 4 video clips ..

2. now right click on the audio timeline and create sync audio

3. now assign to each of your 4 clips a matching ac3 ( or mp2) audio clip in the pop up box and hit create ...
a new ac3 ( mp2) audio file will appear on your audio timeline .

RESULTS - EXCELLENT video quality but the movie is not full screen width. This is because my Pioneer player will not accept the 720. I had to use the original 480 pixels which causes the horizontal width to only fill 2/3 of the screen from left to right. The vertical height is exactly the same as the SVCD movie.
