  1. Hi All,
This is a great forum and website. I'm a newbie to all this, please forgive my ignorance.

I have a few Music Video DVDs but there are only a few songs that I like. What I want to do is to just rip each song out and convert each song seperately into Divx format.
I'm using DVD Decrypter and DVDx. In DVD Decrypter, each song shows up as a chapter. I can just select that chapter and rip it, but when using Dvdx, I get an error saying something about music track not found and filling in with blanks. Why is this happening? Another thing is that after I've encoded to Divx, I notice that the music and the video are not sync. The Video and audio are off by a second or two. Any thought on this?
One more thing, using DvdX, I've notice that my video is not that good and its a bit choppy. It may just be my settings but I dont know.

Any advice on how I rip each song out and improve my video quality would greatly be appreciated.

    Sorry for long post.....

    Thanks in advance....

  2. Though VCDhelp.com does not involve itself much in divx(mpeg4) encoding.
Probably will change as soon as more DVD players can handle the format.

    What about using Vidomi instead?

    http://www.vidomi.com/

Vidomi makes and plays TV quality XviD and DivX™ MPEG4 video from your existing source files.
The interface is simple to use, making it a breeze to get your videos converted quickly and efficiently.

  3. Can Vidomi rip each chapter seperately? I downloaded last night but it the input is a file (say *.vob). Converting the VOB file to divx, wouldnt that convert all the songs within that same VOB file?

  4. But you said the you rip each chapter with dvd-decrypter.

Select file splitting by chapter and you can rip
the whole dvd in one sweep.

  5. Oh yes, thats right.... I'm getting those Senior Moments...

I ripped the song with DVD Decrypter and used Vidomi to encode it to DIVX. Video turned out great but audio got garble out.

I did another test. I copy a small VOB file directly from the DVD and used Vidomi to encode it and the video and audio turned out excellent.

So I'm sure my DVD Decrypter did anything to the audio. Could setting in DVD Decrypter cause the audio to be like that?

    Thanks again for the feedback.

  6. I have been making miniDVDs on regular CD of the music videos that appear as extras on DVDs. Done this way, the quality appears to be a clone of the original DVD. Here's how I do it:

For one, I use PowerDVD and navigate through the DVD until I find the music video I want. With video information on, I get a pretty good idea which VOB I need to rip. (it displays chapter, etc.) Then I use SmartRipper and rip that VOB using chapter ripping...I end up with IFO files with it...I load the VOB file in PowerDVD (with file mode) just to make sure I have the right video. If it's right, then I'm good to go. If it's not, I'll rip the VOBs before and after the one I thought was right (once again in as chapter rip...if you don't do this, you will get way too much of the original VOB which will have more than the video you want) and save them each in different folders. I take a look at them with PowerDVD again. VOBs and IFOs not needed are then deleted. It may take me a few tries, but I do eventually get the one I want. Next, I use IFOEdit and load the IFO which corresponds to the VOB and click the "fix" button. Even if the ifo file is right, this fixes any issues and creates any other data files that should be present on a DVD. Next I create a folder structure the same as a DVD and place all of the files where they should go within the folder structure (open a DVD and look at how it is organized...it's very easy) then burn to disc in DATA mode, disc at once with Nero. On a regular CD, my Sampo611 plays these discs perfectly. If the video is less than 4.5 minutes, I can do the whole video on a pocket CD too and that's really cool! One thing I can add here is that if you rename files, IFOs also have to be renamed to match and each time a renaming occurs, you have to use IFOEdit to fix issues since Ifo files have data in them including file name association info. But if you do this, you can conceivably put several music videos on each miniDVD.

  7. Thanks to you all for answering my post. Sorry for the late response, I've been on vacation and just got back. The info that MadeInJapan posted was just what I needed.
Not only I rip DVD music video, I also rip xtras from DVD, so this was really helpful.

    Thanks again.
