  1. the setting CDRDAO, is it important? Somehow when I enable it, reset VCDEasy and restart, it say "Wnaspi32.dll" not found, CDRDAO is not supported. So I just work witout it and my conversion and burning is fine. So how important is the setting?

"Wnaspi32.dll" is only used for CDRDAO, which is the built-in burning program. If CDRDAO is burning usable VCDs without it, then there is no need to try to fix it, or worry about it. If you are using another program to burn, there is an easy fix that gets CDRDAO working most of the time.

  3. The only reason I use VCDEAsy is because Nero won't let me burn at lower speed so one of my alternative is use this to convert to the cue bin and then use cdrwin to burn at 4x. So far everythign is working fine. Is VCDEasy the best at doing this? How about instant cd/dvd, vcd imager, NTICDmaker?

    Vitamine:

I use VCDEasy myself, because it has a lot of versatility, with all the tools and utilities. Also, I was having problems with Nero and VCD/SVCDs. I know VCDEasy is very popular, I'm not really familiar (I have heard of them) with the other burning software you mentioned.

When I started using VCDEasy, it sad: "ASPI Valid: NO", but when I persisted in using CDRDAO it worked fine anyway. (I had a hunch it would, since I'd been using cdrecord without problems before.)
Just because I didn't like that "NO", I installed ForceASPI (Adaptecs ASPI driver 4.6) and now it said "YES", and worked equally well. When Adaptec released the new XP ASPI layer, I tried this and - kaboom - VCDEasy still liked my ASPI layer, but not cdrecord/cdrdao. Wouldn't work how I tried. So back to ForceASPI and everything's fine again. If it's not broken - don't fix it!

Mats, try the aspi layer 4.70. I had the same problem with the 4.47 version. Installed the 4.70 and back in business.
If it works, don't mess with it, don't tinker with it and don't break it.

I went from ForceASPI (4.6?) to 4.70 with no noticable difference - ASPI was still OK. Then saw an upgrade to 4.72 (or something like that) at Adaptec. Installed that and suddenly nothing related to CD writing worked! Stepped back to 4.70, but still no working ASPI layer. Took the final step back to ForceASPI and everything's fine again. So, I wont touch ASPI as long as it works...
